Sr. Mary Blanche Dalton, fmm

Sister Mary Blanche Dalton entered the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary in N. Providence, RI, March 16, 1950. After pronouncing her first vows September 17, 1952, she was sent to St. Helene Community, the generalate of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary in Rome and then on mission sending to Our Lady of Victories in Mortuwai, Sri Lanka where she served as Assistant at the boarding home.

In 1954, Mary was sent in mission to Maria Assumpta Community, Kobe, Japan, the country that was to be her mission field ever since! In Kobe, she taught in the International School and it was there that she pronounced her final vows on September 17, 1955.

In 1956, she was appointed as Delegate Superior of St. Hermine Community in Shukugawa, Nishinomiya, Japan. She has served as the local superior in Sacred Heart Convent, Kobe Kaisei Byoin, - Our Lady of Hope, Utsunomiya, St. Michael, Fukuoka and Sacred Heart, Kobe.

In 1970, she served as the Assistant at Children’s Home, St. Joseph, Yokohama and in 1971 as the Supervisor of Boarding House, Utsunomiya.

Since 1975, she has served as the provincial secretary. Besides the English language, she is fluent in French and Japanese. Because of her gift of language she has served as a simultaneous translator at many of the General Chapters of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary that have been held in Grottaferata, Italy.
